Koh Lipe has a hard time coping with the ever increasing number of visitors. Resources are stretched to the limit. Fresh water is precious, so try and use as little as possible when you shower - shortages are often experienced. Cans are collected separately and recycled, plastic bottles sometimes, glass and other stuff hardly ever at all. So avoid glass, cans are the way to go. Some resorts have a 'water refill' point where you can fill your empty water bottle and avoid buying a new plastic one. Ask at the reception of your resort if they have one or where the nearest one is. Avoid leaving anything behind on Koh Lipe that is hard to recycle. Things to take back are: batteries, deodorant bottles, broken electronic equipment, etc ...
